Would you blog that extra mile – in your own direction?

images3 There are millions and millions of blogs in the blogosphere. 175,000 blogs created each day. 2 blogs created each second and probably one blog post published every 2 seconds. Makes you feel small, doesn’t it? Well, with so many blogs around, there might not be a niche untapped in this world. In fact, your niche might have thousands and thousands of blogs to it. That’s pretty big competition right? Well, here’s a question.. Of all the blogs that are present, why should people read your blog?

Have you ever thought of it? Acting on it now? In business, it’s all about standing out. It’s about bringing change upon the cliches to stand out of the competition. Quite frankly, succeeding with your blog in an ever-growing blogosphere with constant competition is all about being unique and breaking away from the competition. And that’s what I call the extra mile.

images Going that extra mile might be about setting up that unique brand of blog, formulating a style of content writing that people will love you for, bringing out things that no one else is bringing up, your own methods of viral marketing and so on. These are the things that your competition would not do and if exploited by you, can make you closer to you ultimate goal.

Being unique probably is the key to a blog’s success. Telling people that they won’t be getting what they are getting here anywhere else is a powerful and an effective statement to make. In fact, it’s the most important. The question – “Of all the blogs that are present, why should people read your blog?”. The answer – “Because I am unique and I blog that extra mile to keep my blog that way. Other blogs would not offer what I am offering you right now”. Can you honestly say that out loud? If so, good for you! You’re halfway through the yellow-brick road to success.

images2 The other half of the formulation depends on how well received you are. There’s no point in going extra 10 miles if it’s in the wrong direction. Being unique and being well-received by people would ultimately take you to the Wizard of Oz.

Would you go that extra mile? Are you willing to do what no one else does to be a successful blogger? Are you trying to follow the piper, or are you trying to be a piper? Your answer which might range from Yes to No, would ultimately decide the success and the failure of your blog and blogging. I’ve seen many bloggers come and go. Many trying to replicate what everyone else does, and trying to replicate other people’s success.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s essential for a less-experienced blogger to learn from much experienced ones. But it doesn’t mean that by replicating their success that a blogger can necessarily succeed. Many bloggers would tell you ‘what’ to do in order to succeed. But hardly anyone will tell you ‘how’ to do it. Because, quite frankly, they can’t. No one knows what your capabilities are and how far you can go with something other than yourself.

Stop and think a second. Sometimes we need to know where we’re heading before exceeding the speed limit. Success is a journey, not a destination. So, know where you should go. In a nutshell, think for yourself, formulate your own unique plan, go that extra mile, be well-received, and succeed. It will work. In fact, it’s the only thing that had worked so far:)
