Wordpress or Blogspot - The unseen perspective
Well, this whole new perspective struck my mind when one of my good friends inquired me on what platfor he should start blogging. Blogspot or Wordpress. Well, among many of us bloggers the obvious answer would be “Wordpress!! Yes dude, I’m definite!!” right? But I was like “Wordpress.. But not entirely sure”. Well, for him and all of you, here’s the justification of the phrase.
Let’s be honest. There’s no blogging platform on this planet which at the moment, beats Wordpress. Mainly because it’s free, and has got great support from all around. Most of the people use it and you can get your hands on a lot of FREE themes and plug-ins to increase the functionality. Something which Blogspot has not.
But see; Google bought Blogspot. Google is like the single most powerful superpower of the Internet. We all know what happens when Google gets it’s hands on something right? It beats everything else to get into the top. From previous experiences, I’d hope you all will agree with me if I said it’s only a matter of time.
It’s virtually impossible to migrate within the two platforms at the moment. So new Bloggers should take their time and think about it when it comes to deciding on the blogging platform. The debate is over choosing;
- The platform which is leading at the moment and seems like the present superpower of blogging platforms.
- The platform which is anticipated to eventually set itself apart from the competition and lead the pack.
I know. My whole argument is over something that I personally anticipate. And it shouldn’t refrain anyone from choosing Wordpress over Blogspot. Well, then again, just think about the vast resources Google can throw at Blogspot. And think about the time you were too lazy to migrate from Hotmail to Gmail and eventually expected Gmail to crumble down and for Hotmail to take over the world again; and how it never happened.

Probably. But that doesn’t mean that Google will NOT try the same strategy. It’s a WIN/WIN situation for everyone. And when they do, all the people seeking for hosted blogs will probably use Google, since they will allow integration with all their products + the fastest growing network on the internet, ‘FeedBurner’! They are already halfway through.
Thanks for the comment.
