I was going through the Google Operating System’s posts a few days earlier and found this post which is giving some predictions about things to come on our way. You can read the full post here. Meanwhile, I thought of sharing some noteworthy predictions and evaluate them from my perspectives. See whether we can break the Google code.
• The Maka-Maka Project
This will probably be “Google in your face” for Facebook. Yes, I am so sure about that. They are on their way unifying all the applications for probably the biggest social network ever built. Just imagine the vast resources Google can throw at this? I have to live to see this. With Youtube + Gmail + Docs + Maps + Reader and everything else, this one is going to be a blast. But something that I have to mention here is – extracted originally from their post – “If Google doesn’t understand that your Gmail contacts aren’t necessarily your friends, we’ll see a huge privacy backslash.”
• Advanced Image Analysis
Acquiring NevenVision finally paid off it seems. We’re on our way to seeing advanced graphic analysis for Google Image Search. This might not be the most useful one out of the lot, but it sure is a milestone, and a taste of things to come. For an instance, Speech Recognition? As they put it, “Object recognition is the future of Google.”
• Task Management in Gmail
I’d kill for this feature right here. With this, Gmail really seems to be the real deal. For all the times that I had to switch between Outlook and Gmail, this would be the ultimate solution. I wonder whether they would take a step-forward and have the sharing capabilities also for this, so you can also do Team Task Management, right inside Gmail. And appointment of tasks will be a breeze with Gmail at hand.
• People Search
With facebook opening up for public listings and all that, this is, in my point of view, a very strategic investment for Google. It is expected for Google to acquire all the listings from Social Networking sites. I don’t exactly know how well this could go or how many privacy issues might be fueled because of this. But it’s definitely it’s a step forward.
• Sync
Might as well be the most anticipated feature from Google. Soon we’ll be able to synchronize our Outlook Contacts, Tasks, Calenders with Gmail and have a direct integration with Google Docs and Microsoft Office. We might be able to save our Docs online, work in Docs and directly switch to Online mode so on and so forth. And it doesn’t stop there. If something is synchronize-able, Google will sync it. Including your bookmarks, passwords, cookies, through Google toolbar, they said.
I know. You never know what you can expect from Google. But I’m really looking forward to Maka-Maka, Task Management feature and of course, Synchronization features. What are you looking forward for?
