SezWho – Does it work?

I never really took any notice of SezWho until it’s partnership with Entrecard. When they announced the partnership, I decided to give it a go nevertheless. I know, I know, there’s a question about the quality of traffic that Entrecard sends, and many bloggers have left Entrecard because of that. But, maybe, this is an instance where the quality of traffic can actually be increased by one bit at least.

But, this post is not to discuss the over-blogged “Entrecard+SezWho” – but rather, solely about “SezWho”.

The easiest appearances to prove the existence of SezWho in a blog is the “Rate This” section underneath posts/comments or both with 5 stars. In simple words, SezWho can be defined as a massive rating system for bloggers who create content to get their content rated., and to rate other content. Defining the quality of a blogger is another way to put it.

When I comment on a blog, other bloggers and the post author can rate it. Initially, I would have 2.5 stars as my default rating and if my comments receive high ratings consecutively, the initial rating will increase with time. If I post not-so-good comments and receive low ratings, my initial rating would go down. And this will also affect the posts I publish on my blog in a similar way.

So, does this platform really work?

Well, let me answer that, this way. When Entrecard promoted it, a lot of hype was about the fact that bloggers can actually increase traffic to their blogs significantly through SezWho. Traffic?

I might have to re-think that one. If you have a lot of quality content and leave around 20 good quality comments in 20 blogs of the same niche as yours, spending 2 hours per day, you might end up with around 20 hits per day. This traffic comes from people who read your comments and check out your profile through the popup which appears in the comment when you hover the mouse over “Who am I?”.

So, I’m not very sure of increasing the Traffic “Significantly”.

But SezWho really does improve the quality and quantity of your comments. (Especially if you’re on Entrecard) After installing the plugin, I’ve seen more and more returning commentators with good quality comments. And I do take the time to rate these comments as well:) A higher rating in the 5 star scale means that you’re a reputed blogger.

Conclusively, I like the idea of SezWho. It had given a lot of bloggers an incentive to commend a post with a quality comment, while being exposed to a good community of bloggers who are eager to network with each other. But, when other say that it brings you killer traffic, I will honestly have to disagree.

I have to say that I agree with you, as far as Sez Who bringing in more traffic. I really don’t see how that’s actually possible. You’re getting just as many readers as before, the difference being that better comments are being written (hopefully).

I’ve been using Sez Who since their partnership with EC, and I have to say that I enjoy it very much. Sez Who gives me a chance to get to know my readers, and gives them a chance to know a little more about me, too.

Sez Who can also be used as a guideline for writing posts. If other people rate your content, you have a better idea as to what to write next, and if a post or writing style went over well with your readers. As I’ve said before, even if EntreCard hadn’t offered any incentives to join Sez Who, I would have done so anyway.

Yes, putting it this way Sezwho helps but there is one problem. It´s seems that only wordpress and blogger partforms exist in this world. Everything coming to plugin you only find for them. This doesn´t help.

I use Entrecard to generate traffic and I heard about its partnership with Zeswho, but I haven’t registered yet because I am still thinking if it really works. Also, I don’t mind if my blog has comments or not.

  6. “Sez Who can also be used as a guideline for writing posts.” – Interesting. Should try that out. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Deborah, it might be because it’s relatively harder for them to integrate SezWho into all the other platforms as well. Most of us use Wordpress or Blogger right?

  8. Yes, it’s a bit disappointing isn’t it?

  9. Well, yeah. Depends on you niche. Some niches can’t use comments at all.

I haven’t seen a significant spike in my traffic since adding SezWho to my blog but I have seen more relevant comments. I think that SezWho encourages relevancy when commenting which ultimately brings more traffic back to your blog. I have seen in increase in my feed subscriptions since adding SezWho so I think it is good for gaining readership. That’s just my opinion, I’m sure others have seen more of an increase than I have.

I imagine the traffic generated could amount to fewer direct “clickit” viewers, but more of an interested potential contact. The ability to mouse over a persons profile, view their sites and previous comments.. seems like it should build some traffic if it catches on as a standard of most blogs.

  13. I installed it on my blog and noticed an immediate influx of comments. However, after the buzz of SezWho died down, I found myself almost back down to getting a few comments here and there. I am glad that the craze did come out because I got some really good comments. I also get those comments that are pretty much just copied and pasted bits of text here and there…. and believe me, I delete those. I don’t know why people even leave those comments… do they think I’m not going to read them? I’m glad that SezWho has a ranking system, because these newer comments I’ve received have more quality than most other comments… and yeah even if the person is seeking a higher ranking, I don’t care because I really enjoy well-written comments and I’ll give them full stars.

Anyway, thank you for the thought filling post. I am glad to be able to take part in a conversation about SezWho.
