Admit it! When the e-mail hits your inbox that a reader of your blog commented on the post you just published, you just put off approving the comment for an hour or two since it’s a painful process – starting up the browser, logging into Wordpress, going over to moderate comments and approving it.
Or when you see that comment which skipped Akismet spam catcher you just need to log in and mark it as spam before the virus spreads deep into your beloved blog community. Or., you just auto-approve all the comments since it’s a hassle to approve all the blog comments.
Not anymore! Moderator let’s you moderate all your Wordpress blog comments from your desktop. That’s right! You can specify a time interval you want moderator to check for new comments, and when new comment are available, you will be immediately notified of them.
After that, it’s take you a few seconds to read the comment, review it and then approve/discard it. It’s a pretty easy process and when you’re done, Moderator sits nicely on your taskbar till the next batch of comments come. It’s an Adobe AIR application so it’s super lightweight.
A word of caution – It’s still in the alpha release. So, bugs might exist, although within my short evaluation period, I didn’t come across any. You can download Moderator from here.
This would be a good news for wordpress blog users. They can easily moderate comments. But does it require any sign in or sign-up?
I’ll try it now on my test wordpress blog.
Yes it does. You will need to supply it with your blog’s URL, username and password.
It’s been a very pleasant experience viewing your site. However, there are some articles here that I found a bit troubling. But of course as we all know everyone can’t be satisfied.
Have A Great Day!!
I have used this before. It works very well and makes moderating comments very easy.
Sure, I’ll try it, may be it would be very time saving if it work.
This sure save me a lot of time to approve the comments.

My internet connection and the processing speeds are low. So I hate when I have to load my web browser and log in to wordpress simply because it takes too much time.
This tool will be very helpful to me because I can moderate all my comments from my desktop and it will notify me from time to time.
Looking forward to using the “Moderator” tool.
Thanks,
Thanura
Great article. I was on the lookout for such a tool. and yes, I really don’t like the long process of going to check the comments. Not anymore I guess. Thanks
thanks for info!!
That’s an amazing application Nadeesha. Would work really well under some situations I come across. Thanks for the tip. cheers
Perhaps its just me but if I have already logged into my email and gotten the notice that I received a comment, its not really so hard to click the link inside the email that says “approve” “delete” or “mark as spam”. On top of that firefox, flock, and IE all have plugins that allow you to not only moderate comments from anywhere on the web but also to make posts. If the problem is that its to time consuming to open a browser, then one should probably reconsider starting a blog. I mean if you can’t open the browser and click approve, how are you also going to use the browser to make posts, to comment on other blogs, etc?
