Have you ever felt like you’ve written an awesome blogpost but the people are not commenting or reading it? That people are not getting the point of it? Well, today, we’ll discuss some measures you can take to make your visiotrs read your blog!
Title does it all!
Keep your title short and sweet. Possibly within 40 characters. BlogRush widget, which had recieved a lot of attention in the last few days cuts you title short in 40 characters. So if you’re using any traffic networks like BlogRush, you may want to check their system out and optimize your headlines accordingly. And make sure you convey your point clearly, with a few juicy keywords. People tend to read your post when you start with a ‘How-to’ or a ‘5-tips-to’ style. People just have something for these tutorial-like blog posts.
Have a good Introduction.
Make it a habit to have a good introduction to your blog post. It helps to let your visitors confirm their doubts on whether its exactly what they are looking for. Be clear and concise about the heaing. Don’t make it look like the introduction is half of your blog post. Promise big things in that. Say what you going to deliver and what the people want to hear. Ask yourself what you wanna hear if you come across a blog post like that and then apply it to your blog.
Consider some graphical content.
When you’re posting on a blog, try to have a picture in midst of the blog to give that post some personality. It’s relatively eye-catchy and make a good impression on the reader. And make sure it’s relevant. Make sure it gives the same message as your headline and introduction. If you can’t find a picture, just create a picture that will have you title on it with some fancy text-effect. The primary objective of having that picture there is to convey the core of your blog post in a nutshell! Oh, and have your keywords in the picture’s alt tag!
Don’t let your length kill the beauty of it all…
Consider making your blog post more readable and less lengthy. If you are meant to write such long posts, break them into pieces and link them saying Part I, Part II, etc. When the reader looks at your post, just make sure it is appealing enough for him to dscover more of it. After all, you wrote your post because you wanted them to read it ha? You can make it look considerably appealing if you break it into sub topics. Don’t make your content look awkward by optimizing it for search engine spiders. If you get your readers confused, you’ll fall short of some loyal readers.
Nice tips. The title really is super important for not only things like BlogRush but people skimming through the RSS subscriptions.
Sometimes I get so focused on what I am trying to explain that I forget to really think out a good title and introduction, which I’m sure isn’t helping me =)
Nice article! “Grabby” titles do indeed draw in more readers. And keeping a reasonably steady flow of fresh posts will also help to turn those new visitors into regular readers or subscribers.
Chris, Thanks a lot. Yes! I do believe that the title has a lot to it. Like the food should smell good first right? I hope you find this article useful.
Rob, Appreciate your advice a lot. Will do as you hope. Thanks for your comment.
