How to brainstorm for your blog

The most difficult process of blogging – good blogging – is coming up with good ideas for new blog posts. Once you have a good idea, the next hardest thing is brainstorming for good content engineering. And this whole brainstorming thing – we will take a closer look on it today – and we’ll also pay some mind to psychology-at-work.

Tip 1 – Have a specific time to brainstorm.

I guess you know what your optimum time to brainstorm. The optimum time your brain is filled with ideas. Well, if you don’t know, just experiment around it. Although it may differ from person to person, I believe early morning works for most of us. Mainly because, your brain work significantly well after a good nights sleep.

If you’re not an early riser, I think anytime after a 90 minute-sleep would do well. A 90 minute period equals to one sleep cycle. It’s good to brainstorm with a refreshed body and a refreshed mind.

Tip 2 – Have a specific place to place to brainstorm

Having a specific place could do well. It’s psychology at work. When your sub-conscious gets used to a place specific for brainstorming, it will automatically do what it’s supposed to. Familiar things trigger familiar experiences. Also, you might want to pick a place without distractions.

Tip 3 – Coffee would do well

If you are trying to quit coffee, please ignore this tip. But personally, when I have a good cup of coffee, I am bombarded with ideas. I think it’s my psychology – my own. But it could work for you. Just try it out. Anyways, you feel so energized when you’re over a cup of coffee – A sudden increase of energy.

Tip 4 – When you’re desperate, change can be good.

Are you having those – ‘I just can’t brainstorm anymore’ days? You might want to consider some changes. Try the whole process in a different time and a different place for a change. Just try going out to the greens and under the blues if you can’t get a move on.

Tip 5 – Read your previous posts for new ideas

You can always go and take a look back at your posts right? That might be healthy if you’re trying to search for ideas. You will find some tip or something that you barely elaborated in another post. And you can always research them and build a good post on them. Reading other blogs might also be advantageous. But when most people do that, they just tend to copy others content. SO refrain from doing that if it’s affordable not to.

Tip 6 – Always have a notebook to scribble down notes

You never know when inspiration might hit you. So, you might want to consider keeping a small notebook with you at all times. (Yes! A blackberry would do also J) When you have something write it down before you forget. It’s amazing how soon you might lose the track of a good idea. Try it out. This tip might be a lifesaver for you.

Tip 7 – Be committed!

Commit yourself to brainstorm and engineer good content. Without commitment, you won’t get much further. Know that this is the most important part of blogging as every other aspect of blogging depends on this. So brainstorm – brainstorm good – practice makes perfect. Be genuine to yourself.

There might be days you just can’t seem to put down anything on your own. Know that everyone has those days and it’s inevitable. The key to being a pro-blogger lies there – not giving up.
