Here’s why bloggers should read blogs about blogging
Some people always say that it’s a waste of time reading blogs that help you blog. And recently, while reading one of my favorite Blogs online, ProBlogger, I came across this comment by a person called Simmons. In her own words, “My #1 tip: Stop reading blogs that help you blog. I used to read around 10 a day, but I’ve cut it down to one (ProBlogger). I’ve saved a LOT of time.” And it is that comment that inspired me to write this post. I recommend reading the ProBlogger article on “10 Rhythms for Productive Blogging“, in which I found this comment.
As the headline says, I do not fully support Simmons’s comment. I support it partially because I believe reading 10 blogs about blogging daily is a waste of time and I deny it partially because being too rigid on claiming that the #1 tip should be about not reading such blogs is kind of hard to digest. (Yes, now I know that I can not get Simmons to subscribe to my blog anyways since it’s about blogging! J)
Here’s the thing. Most of the blogs which are about blogging and offer tips are just reflecting what everyone says. And in the blogosphere, this is one area where blogs seem to be least original. And if you subscribe to 10 blogs that just basically say the same thing over and over, then yes, indeed, it’s a waste of your time.
But there are a few very original blogs about blogging. Like ProBlogger, JohnChow (and maybe MindBlogger? J Because there hasn’t been one post on this blog that I didn’t construct originally) These kind of blogs offer unique content that, if missed by a reader, they can’t get anywhere else. Reading these original blog will give you the ability to,
- Know about latest tech-developments
- Gain valuable insights
- Step-up your game
- Gain inspiration
- Gain motivation
Reading these blogs, in my estimation are worth the double your time consumed because these blogs have helped me and millions of others a lot. And yes, even I limit myself to a few really good blogs. But definitely, more than one.
