When you take a folded newspaper, what do you see first, even before unfolding? Everything that is visible even before the newspaper is unfolded is called “above the fold”. As for the whole purpose of it, something above the fold in the newspaper is to persuade the frequent browser to buy the paper. How many times have you bought the newspaper just looking at the headline? I have to admit. Above the fold marketing, if exploited right, can be really powerful for newspapers and blogs alike. Newspapers, virtually run on above the fold advertising.

So how can we apply the same thing to a blog?

Search Engine Spider

I’m sorry if the the headline freaked you out:) But really, have you looked at your site through the search engine’s eyes? Yeah, in case you didn’t figure that one out, by spider, i meant - the search engine spider. Yes, you can call it a bot too.

Anyway, the method used by search engines like Google to index your blog/site is to send out a virtual bot/spider to your blog/site. It comes and crawls all over your site content, making it’s way through the links. And after that this spider crawls back to the dark crypts within Google with what it saw when it visited your site.

Have you heard of Entrecard? It’s supposed to be your e-business card and as they say, business card 2.0! From the looks of it, one of the most powerful and promising blogger networks emerging - and the best thing is, the business cards they have is not at all capable of being stacked into painful business card organizers!

BEE, which means, Before Everything Else, if you don’t know what ‘Google Webmaster Tools’ is, the I suppose you check this post out, titled, Google Webmasters Tools - making life easier for bloggers. Simply because of the fact that today, we’re going to play a bit around Google and Wordpress integration.

Oh yes! The magical word!! “Integration”. How do we integrate something into wordpress, class? Plugins of course. Now this is not a super secret, but accept it. It had been just that for sometime. Free Traffic!

Well, I got to say, I’ve been trying out quite a few free traffic ‘springs’ for blogs lately. And it was BlogRush that really impressed me with it’s ways.

BlogRush’s method of giving away free traffic involves with awarding its members with credits for what they do. i.e. display their widget and refer other potential bloggers to their system. Apparently, you are awarded a credit for each time the widget is displayed in your blog. And you also get a specific number of credits when you refer someone to their traffic system with the unique referral URL allocated for you.
