That’s right. The title says it all. I’m going to convert ROCKFUSE in to a team blog.

I’ve decided to open up the doors and invite others would take interest in writing about Web 2.0, Internet Marketing, SEO, Blogging and Social Media to write for ROCKFUSE. But why write?

To get more exposure to your blogs and yourself through the 500+ subscribers that we have.

Connect and network with cool new people and other content contributors who share the same likes as you.

Showcase your own advertisements and earn from all the traffic that you’re bringing to this team blog.

That’s right. The graphic below will outline the basic perks that content contributors would be getting.

You have total control over the ad (468×60) displayed in the footer. You can put up your own affiliate banners, AdSense units or even a banner for your blog. It’s just my way of saying “Thank you for contributing”.

What is the criteria for a writer?

You will need to write along the lines of Web 2.0, Internet Marketing, SEO, Blogging, Social Media, Internet and anything that goes in between.

You will need to publish at least 1 article per week. Maximum is 3 per week. How often you’re going to write is up to you. More you write, more you gain. But even if you can’t meet the minimum per week of 1 article, don’t hold back from contacting me. I’m sure we can work something out. When you’re contacting me, just let me know roughly how often you can write and we can work something out.

I don’t have much constraints on how you should present the article. But it should be in flawless English and at least 200 words. Preferably something that would be useful for our 500+ subscribers. (Not the stuff you see everywhere)

I will only be picking 7 writers for now. So if you think you fit the bill, please drop me a message with your blog’s URL. Or if you would like more info, feel free to contact me.

I wouldn’t call it ROCKFUSE 2.0 because the new face of ROCKFUSE is not a development in the same direction as ROCKFUSE 1.0! You might have already seen the new header and the couple of minor tweaks I’ve done to the blog. And I agree – it’s not as flashy as the one before, because I’ve been trying to tone down the design of the site. So what’s up with this new direction?

Well, for starters, I just want to let all of my subscribers know that the good ol’ “blogging tips/SEO/traffic building/money making” content is still going to be published as usual without scarcity. But more than before, I’m going to dive into general Web 2.0 stuff alongside my experiences in Online Entrepreneurship, and speak more openly about my endeavors.

ROCKFUSE had been going on for over 1 year now. And I want to take a moment to thank all of you who take the time to read it, comment on it, and subscribe to it. My biggest goal through this blog is not to waste the time of a person trying to get something out by having that person read through recycled content – but to make sure what I publish is as fresh as it can be to make it worth his/her time.

And since you won’t get the dull old stuff been published everywhere, I believe all the people reading this in their feed reader, e-mail inbox or on the site would welcome the change.

And, as you all can see, there had been a substantial amount of entries – as the contest was a really successful campaign. And tabulating the end results is no easy task. For this purpose, the contest results will be announced in 5-7 days from now, or maybe sooner. So, hold on. Santa is on the way:)

I had the two posts I put a tremendous effort into writing, virtually explode at Social Media sites, which is a good thing.

I’ve been working on a few projects lately. A couple of blogs and a social media site, which would come up within this month – and working on what I’d like to call the – “Do not post and still get Traffic” challenge. Which, basically put, is a challenge I put on myself to get more traffic by posting less posts on a blog. It’s going well, beyond my expectations.

In the coming week, I’d unveil it ceremoniously here at ROCKFUSE:)

With that being said, here’s the scoop from the blogosphere.,

Murder your competition with killer “sales techniques” – Eranda breathes life into an over-exhausted niche marketing topic with 10 simply killer tips.

RSS is for Chumps – Feel free to disagree! But an interesting look at both of the options. If you’re going to start-up a newsletter for your blog soon, you might find this encouraging and useful!

Interview with Blog Pro: RockFuse – Blog Pro? No I don’t make myself a self-proclaimed candidate for the title, but Taylor does:)

So, I think we’re done here. Have a great Sunday guys!

Nothing much on the move except for the big contest. I haven’t been producing much content since I’ve been trying out a new approach for ROCKFUSE, and I hope it will be evident in the weeks to come. Let me give you a hint – it’s something to do with SEO. And, for the record, if it works out well, I will share this approach with you guys. It’s nothing controversial – but it’s not an exhausted idea either.

As I say, a non-exhausted method to get some extra hits in this over populated niche is a Gold mine!

SEO discovery of the week

If you were keeping an eye on your SERPs, you might have noticed that this week there were some major changes in them. This blog was ranking at 20-30 for the keyword “Make Money Blogging” and it just fell to 40 overnight.

Curious about this devil dance, I was searching for the odds and ends of this. And it was then I found out that I’m not the only one. In fact, as a new measure, it’s believed in the SEO community that effective from now on, Google will weigh anchor text lesser than how it used to. Why? Everyone buys paid links for their targeted anchor text and no matter how irrelevant the site is, it’s ranking gets a boost. And that was just a major loophole in the Google algorithm.

How to restore your SERPs? Well, make the content relevant to the keywords you’re targeting. Of course, the blackhat approach would be Keyword Stuffing.

AdSense’s weird CSS behavior – busted!

I was doing some SEO consultancy for my friend Eranda over at Antharjalaya, when his AdSense units just gave up. I was modifying his CSS and Theme Files – tweaking them for SEO purposes, when his AdSense units just became unresponsive.

They were being displayed, no problem there. But except for the top ad in the block (he was using 250×250 blocks) the others were not-clickable., as in, when you click them, nothing happens. This was too weird. (To make things more complex, he was floating the AdSense blocks inline with text) It took me around 5 hours of troubleshooting to pin-point the problem. And adding to my misery, I found many people with the same problem when I was searching for an answer – but not the actual answer anywhere.

The problem was in the CSS layering. Sounds too weird? When AdSense ads become unclickable, it is because one of your divs (or something of that sort) is actually hovering over your AdSense unit. (This can be triggered by incorrect XHTML markup, especially incorrect DOCTYPE deceleration) The best thing to do is to put a <div> tag around the AdSense unit and set the z-index to a very high number. Like this:

<div style="z-index:99;">
AdSense Code
</div>

The solution came to me quite intuitively and as of that I’m not surprised that no one had found the solution to this problem before.

Of course, I wouldn’t post my full discovery about AdSense blocks behavior, and my findings here for the greater good. Why? Let’s just say that if I did so here, lots of black hatters would be killing AdSense with macros – earning a lot of ‘cents’ – with fraudulent clicks that look completely natural.

Oh and if you want any SEO consultancy services for your blog, just shoot me a message. Eranda will tell you how awesome I am

Contest Update

3 days elapsed and already an update? Well, making up for a big mistake I did when mentioning one of great sponsors – AuctionSiteWriter – I’d like you guys to know that they are having a really cool deal over there for ROCKFUSE readers.

If you want to buy AuctionSiteWriter, and need a killer discount, guys at 1CoolFile will give $10CAD off their normal prize if you e-mail them with the subject “ROCKFUSE Blog Contest”, and tell that you’re par-taking in the contest. Of course, they will refund your money if you actually win that in the blog contest

If you haven’t joined the contest yet, well, you know what to do?

In the spotlight

Finally, these were some articles discovered on my feed reader and blog-hopping that are totally worthy of a mention!

Don’t Waste Your Adspace On Bidvertiser: Turnip tells us why we all should stay away from Bidvertiser! The claims made in this post seems pretty solid and it had definitely changed my perspective on Bidvertiser. If you’re trying out Bidvertiser on your blog, promoting it or doing anything at all with it, then you should read it before promoting them furthermore!

Tagging 101 – Tags, Clouds and More: Probably the most comprehensive guide to tagging you’ll ever read! Keving shares the basics, social media approach and some cool plugins to help you get more out of your tags!

3 part Yahoo! Buzz experiment: Matt over at Blogging Fingers is doing a through analysis of Yahoo! Buzz. If you’re promoting your blog in Yahoo! Buzz, well, this is a must read for you. Matt talks about a lot of things concerning Yahoo! Buzz. At the time of this post’s submission, it seems like the last part is yet to be published by Matt.

Is It a Big Deal To Be on Yahoo Top Buzz?: Is it? You might want to read Eranda’s post to find out! Most of you will be really surprised by his findings – rest assured!

Grow Your Business with “Konnects”: Thanks to this post, I was able to fid this really cool young-entrepreneurs-only version of LinkedIn. (Well, it has nothing to do with LinkedIn) but certainly seems to be building authority.

How to Enter

Entry is as simple as it could be! And it also gets you 5 points. Simply subscribe to ROCKFUSE by e-mail, and confirm your subscription. With that, you’re enrolled in the contest and eligible to win! And, don’t forget to leave a comment in this post telling us you’ve subscribed.

Enter your email address:

Though it’s not compulsory, you can also blog about the contest, and make a comment here. It’ll give you an extra 15 points.

Existing subscribers can also enter, but they must earn 3 or more referral points (described below) to be entered.

How to Earn Referral Points

You will earn referral points by telling your friends about this contest. Yeap! It’s that easy.

The link below will open a separate window with a form that you can fill and submit. There will be 10 slots to enter e-mail addresses of your friends and the preview of the message that will be sent.

Refer my Friends!

Enter as many e-mail addresses you want in the form (you don’t have to fill all 10 though) and then submit. Those friends will be tracked throughout the contest and when they signup, you will earn points. The more friends you refer, the more you’ll win. (Don’t try to game the system because we manually review everything to the last detail) And yes, you can submit this form as many times as you want.

You will earn 3 points for every tier-1 subscriber you refer to ROCKFUSE.

You will earn 1 point for every tier-2 subscriber; meaning which, for every subscriber that you friend (referred by you) refers to the contest, you will earn 1 point.

So, the sooner you act, more points you will earn:)

How the prizes are distributed

On the 20th of September I will close down the contest. And start calculating the points.

I will then contact the top 5 point earners – in the order which the highest point earner gets contacted first, the second highest next and so on.

The top 5 point earners will be able to choose 1 premium prize of their choice each and another 1 prize from another category., which comes to 2 prizes each per best 5 contestants.

So that takes care of 10 out of 45 prizes. Where does the other 35 go?

They will be allocated to the other contestants who didn’t really end up in the top 5 spots. Contestants with high referral points will get more valuable prizes, though unlike the top 5 they won’t be able to choose what they want.

And even if you don’t refer anyone, there’s still a good chance that you will still be eligible to win!

So, that’s it! Good luck to every one! Let the good time roll!

One free entry in the EatonWeb blog directory – EatonWeb blog directory (PR6) is the oldest blog directory on the web! And you’re guaranteed one free entry to it. It’s a killer way to increase your blog’s exposure, with EatonWeb’s killer metric system to measure your blog’s credentials. Check it out here.

$100 Free Advertising at Performancing Ads – That’s right! You’ll get $100 in free advertising to spend on the Performancing Ads marketplace – which is the fastest growing Private Ad marketplace now… Check my review on it if you’re not sure.

One free 125×125 month long banner advertising on ROCKFUSE.

One free Wordpress Theme Sponsorship – This is a new ROCKFUSE project set to launch in a few days. You’d be getting a free premium sponsorship of one Free Wordpress Theme, meaning, it will carry your anchor text and backlink in the footer. Gallons of SEO juice for you, when bloggers download it and use it in their blogs!!

(Update: Please note that the FREE Wordpress Theme Sponsorship had been taken out of the pot due to time constraints in delivering the prize.)

How to enter?

Simply signup for Performancing Ads using this link – Join Performancing Ads!

And leave a comment here afterwards, using the same e-mail address that you signed up for Performancing Ads. You will earn 2 tickets for that!

Please note that you can’t enter the contest if you’re already a publisher of Performancing Ads. You must be a new publisher, and you must use my affiliate link (the one displayed above saying “Join Performancing Ads!”) to signup for the network. Failure to do so will not give you the entry to the contest. By doing that, you’re granted entry to the contest and you’ll have a chance of winning one of the prizes.

How do I increase my chances of winning?

Well, here’s how you can multiply your chances!

Subscribe to ROCKFUSE by e-mail and multiply your tickets by 3 or If you’re an existing Subscriber, the same…

Stumble this post and multiply your tickets by 2.

Blog about this contest, with a link to this post and add another 5 tickets to the multiplied total!!! (Your blog post must either direct the interested visitors to this page to sign up for Performancing Ads, or, you can use the following link: http://www.rockfuse.com/blog/performancingads)

And, I will give a link back to everyone who blogs about it.

For an example, if I signed up for Performancing Ads, I’d be entered in to the contest with the 2 tickets. After that If I choose to subscribe to ROCKFUSE by e-mail, I get 2 tickets x 3 = 6 tickets. And If I choose to stumble it, I get 8 tickets x 2 = 16 tickets!! Wait.. Blogging about it? Add another 5 tickets to the multiplied total – 16 tickets + 5 tickets = 21.

Rules are Simple

You must signup for the Performancing Ads marketplace.

You must do it with the above affiliate link of mine.

You must leave a comment afterwards with the same e-mail that you signed up for Performancing Ads with.

The contest will run till the 20th of August.

Winners will be chosen by the Random.org’s Randomizer.

That’s it! Good luck to everyone… The contest is declared open!!!

Selections

Selection process of the winners was carried out as follows. All the winners were listed with their obtained tickets. In a master list, they were listed an x number of times, x being the number of tickets they obtained. (In other words, if you subscribed to ROCKFUSE, then your entry was listed 14 times)

All these entries in the master list were randomized with the Random.org’s list randomizer.

And, the duplicate entries were eliminated and the winners were chosen according to their position in the randomized list and the prize list.

Then the entries were checked for validity, and the invalid entries were disqualified. You can click on the thumbnail to your right and bring up the screenshot of the winners list.

Claiming your prize

Everyone is a winner, since all of you get the $1 e-book from BlogPremiere. To claim your prizes, please drop me a message from my contact form, and I will redirect you to the sponsors. If you want to receive your complementary e-book, the same. I will mail it back to you.

Thank You!
