You obviously know what you should have in order to blog! Ever thought about things that you can’t blog without?
1. Inspiration
Whether you are starting a blog or starting a post, without “Inspiration”, you won’t get anywhere. We all got some amount of initial inspiration when starting something. To be successful with whatever we’re doing, we need to develop that initial inspiration. And for a blogger, this can’t be too hard as there are millions of people with blogs willing to inspire you. Yes! the best way to inspire yourself is to read others blogs. Not everything that you come across. But there are a few good ones. Like John Chow’s, Steve Pavlina’s, and Darren Rowse’s problogger. By looking at what these people have accomplished, you’ll instantly feel inspired. And by reading these blogs, you’ll get some good ideas for blog posts yourself!
But to get some serious inspiration to blogging, you need to clear-out your own goals. Ask yourself why you really need to maintain a blog. Find your purpose. It’s really easy to start a blog. The hard part lies in maintaining it. Keeping those good posts coming and keep constantly optimizing your blog to harness the maximum returns.
Be driven by your small accomplishments. In the beginning, blogging is all about building your subscriber-ship, one subscriber at a time. Don’t lose your interest in blogging because you just can’t drive in 100 visitors a day in the first month. A strong spring of inspiration might really help you in this time.
Don’t hold yourself back from reading a few success stories of few good bloggers. Who were no-where, but now, live very stable lives thanks to their blogs. But the ultimate inspiration come from within yourselves. Look at the large picture. Look at where you want to be with your blog in 2-3 years times. Visualize it. And ultimately, you’ll have it.
2. Perspiration
Some one said “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration”. And that’s true. Maybe you can dream big. But when it comes to making your dreams a reality, that’s when you are really tested.
And how can you get this Perspiration thing going? Have plans! Have all kinds of plans and stick accordingly to it. And be specific about your plans. A good blogger will always try to offer something in time. Something good. Something worth reading. If you can’t really give your readers something valuable and out of the ordinary, you might not be so successful. You must convince your readers that the content you offer is worth their time.
When you clear out your daily goals, you must try your best in achieving them. Inspiration gets you to create a good to-do list. Perspiration is what marks everything ‘done’!
A good blog is not what you create but rather ‘earn’. Everyone can create a blog. But you must ‘earn’ a ‘good blog’. You must commit your self and look at the big picture. There might be days that you feel like you’ve written something really good but you’ve had no new subscribers. Pay no mind. That’s all a part of the game. The first year of your blog is a time that you are constantly being tested. It takes something to be a pro-blogger. And it doesn’t come easy.
And also, make sure you don’t pressure yourself. Just because you want 100 new subscribers each day, don’t put yourself on the end of suffocation and have a do-or-die code. It hardly works. Know your limits and accept them. Maintaining your blog is a never ending marathon. (Unless you want to take it off the net, of course!) So don’t run too fast.
3. Honesty
To me it seems like a Genius blogger is 1% inspiration, 49% perspiration and 50% honesty. So you might be wondering why you need to regard honesty so highly now yeah?
Do you want to make your blogging life more enjoyable? I mean genuinely enjoyable? So be genuine yourself and be honest to yourself. Genuinely give-away something. Be generous with passing on the torch, passing on your knowledge. Take a look at StevePavlina.com. Steve Pavlina is one of the most honest bloggers I know. His blog posts are worth a million. They have literally changed lives. Yet he gives away all his best ideas for free on his blog.
Treat your readers as your children. And those who stray might see your honesty and be a loyal child of yours. And nothing beats the feeling when you know that you have genuinely helped someone onto something and you have made even a small change in their lives. Honesty helps you change others lives for good. And when you do, you become relatively significant in this world, compared to the other 6.5 billion.
